Charger Specs & Requirements
Everything you and your electrician need before you buy: every charger side by side, the smallest breaker each one can use, and how fast it really charges.
What your property needs.
Find your charger and check the breaker it needs. Every charger needs its own circuit with 30 mA RCD protection.

Cable sizes are typical for copper cable on a standard run. Your qualified electrician confirms the breaker and cable size for your property, run length and local wiring rules.

All three use the same payment system. The difference is how they connect to power and how much use they are built for.

Why charging speed varies.
How fast will it charge?
Most cars add about 30–45 km of range for every hour plugged in. Plug in overnight and most guests wake up to a full battery or close to it.
Why do some cars charge slower?
Every EV has a built-in limit on how much power it accepts. On single-phase power, many cars top out at 7.4 kW and some at 3.7 kW, so they charge at that speed on any charger.
Does battery size matter?
Yes. A small battery fills up quickly. A big truck or SUV battery takes longer to fill, even at the same speed.
Does it matter how full the battery is?
Yes. Cars charge fastest when the battery is low and slow down as it gets close to full.
Does weather matter?
Very cold weather can slow charging a little.
Does my electrical setup matter?
Yes. The charger can only go as fast as your circuit allows. A 32A circuit gives the full 7.4 kW on the residential models.
Why is the plug-in model 32A?
The blue single-phase plug and socket are rated 32A. At 230V that is 7.4 kW, the top single-phase speed most cars accept.
Pick by property.
Residential plug-in
You already have a blue 32A socket, or want the simplest install. Plug it in and set up the app.
Residential hardwired
You don't have a socket, or want it wired in. An electrician wires it into your consumer unit.
Commercial 48A
Hotels, multi-unit buildings and businesses with constant daily use.
