Residential Can I install a charger myself?

The 240V plug-in model, yes. Plan on about 30 minutes to mount it, plus ten minutes of app setup. Every screw and anchor is in the box.

Three things to check first

• A 240V outlet within reach. The plug-in model goes straight into the same kind of outlet a dryer, welder or RV hookup uses. If you do not have one, a licensed electrician can add it.
• Strong Wi-Fi at the mounting spot. The charger runs on your Wi-Fi network, so check the signal at the spot on the wall before you drill.
• A drill, screwdriver and hammer. Plus a drill bit sized for the included wall anchors. That is the whole tool list.

Mounting it

1. Pick the spot. A wall with strong Wi-Fi, near where the car parks and within cable reach of the outlet.
2. Apply the alignment sticker. Stick it on straight, at the height you want the charger to sit.
3. Drill the three holes. Use a bit sized for the included anchors, then tap the anchors in with a hammer.
4. Open the enclosure. Unlock the charger from the side with the included key to expose the interior mounting holes.
5. Screw it to the wall. Line up the holes, drive the three mounting screws and tighten. Close the charger and lock it with the key.
6. Plug it in. Into the 240V outlet. The light flashes green when the charger is in standby and ready to rent.

Hardwired models

Hardwired chargers are wired in by a licensed electrician. Everything after that — the app, your price, your hours — is the same.
