Charger Specs & Requirements
Everything you and your electrician need before you buy: every charger side by side, the smallest breaker each one can use, and how fast it really charges.
What your property needs.
Find your charger and check the smallest breaker it can use. EV charging runs for hours, so the breaker must be at least 25% larger than what the charger draws.

Wire sizes are typical for copper wire in conduit. Standard house cable (NM-B) often needs one size larger, for example 4 AWG on a 60A breaker. Your licensed electrician confirms the breaker and wire size for your property, run length and local code. Install per NEC Article 625 and local codes.

All four use the same payment system. The difference is how they connect to power and how much use they are built for.

Why charging speed varies.
How fast will it charge?
Most cars add about 20–40 miles of range for every hour plugged in. Plug in overnight and most guests wake up to a full battery or close to it.
Why do some cars charge slower?
Every EV has a built-in limit on how much power it accepts. Many cars top out at 7.7 or 9.6 kW, so they charge at that speed on any charger.
Does battery size matter?
Yes. A small battery fills up quickly. A big truck or SUV battery takes longer to fill, even at the same speed.
Does it matter how full the battery is?
Yes. Cars charge fastest when the battery is low and slow down as it gets close to full.
Does weather matter?
Very cold weather can slow charging a little.
Does my electrical setup matter?
Yes. The charger can only go as fast as your circuit allows. For example, the hardwired model needs a 60A breaker to charge at its full 48A.
Will the 80A charger charge every car faster?
No. Only vehicles that accept 19.2 kW, mostly large electric trucks and a few luxury cars, charge faster. Every other car charges at 48A speed.
Why can't the plug-in model run at 48A?
A NEMA 14-50 outlet is rated 50A, and electrical code limits EV charging to 80% of that, which is 40A. For 48A, choose the hardwired model on a 60A breaker.
Pick by property.
Residential plug-in
You already have a NEMA 14-50 outlet, or want the simplest install. Plug it in and set up the app.
Residential hardwired
You want the fastest home charging, up to 48A on a 60A breaker, or you don't have an outlet. An electrician wires it in.
Commercial 48A or 80A
Hotels, multi-unit buildings and businesses with constant daily use. Choose 80A only for electric trucks and fleets.
